Over 4 weeks we explore, apply, and practice the design process: think, make, break, and repeat.

TOPICS COVERED
WEEK ONE
THEORY:
Learn the basics of design, layouts, and conceptual elements concerning design projects.
- We will introduce key concepts and terms used in the critique of visual form in design work.
- We will cover basic terms used in the discussion of visual contrast, composition, and hierarchy.
PRACTICAL TRAINING:
Learn how to use CANVA in great detail, exploring different design layouts.
- Analyse basic design concepts which can be applied in a professional setting, including typography, colour theory, image selection, and layout best practice
WEEK TWO
THEORY:
Explore different design elements and how to amalgamate them with typography.
- Introduction to website outlets to access design elements & vectors.
- Incorporating the use of design references or accessing free vector files.
PRACTICAL TRAINING:
You will be introduced to graphic design softwares such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, learning the basic features to explore and create innovative designs.
WEEK THREE
THEORY:
Learn how to think creatively, understand a creative brief, and conduct research to gather significant material to create a design.
- Establish and articulate criteria for successful outcomes in a design project.
PRACTICAL TRAINING:
Practise and familiarise yourself with the software features of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
WEEK FOUR
PRACTICAL:
Throughout this week, you’ll be expected to work on the final assignment. You will be assessed on your ability to transfer the content and research conducted throughout the theoretical practices, and your ability to convert the theory practices and are able to incorporate the understanding of the skills learnt whilst utilising the various design software in the final creative post.
